OBITUARY (Blenheim Newspaper / February 13, 1902)
DEPENCIER - The death occurred last Sunday at his home Center Line, Harwich of Socrates Depencier, an old resident of Harwich. Deceased was 68 years old and had been in poor health for the past five years. The cause of his death was heart disease. The funeral took place on Wednesday to Evergreen cemetery. The service was conducted in the Huffman's church by Rev. Mr. Kellington. Deceased leaves besides a widow, several children to mourn his loss. They are: John, and Mrs. Wm. Moore, of Howard; Mrs. Hugh Bawden, Harwich; and Albert and Angeline, at home.

Socrates married Lucinda Steen [3265] [MRIN: 732], daughter of Robert Steen [2640] and Letitia Kells [2641], about 1870.⁹⁶ (Lucinda Steen [3265] was born in 1837 in Monaghan County, Ireland, died on 7 Apr 1909 in Harwich Township, Kent, Ontario, Canada ⁹⁸ and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, Kent, Ontario, Canada ¹.)
